I have a parcel in the post office (Dubai)
Since I'm busy I can't go get it soon.
How long they are going to keep it there for me?
Is it possible that they send it back to sender if I get belated?

Which courier associates in UAE will deliver Canda Post letters?

Answer: Emirates post , and only delivers Designate & Mumtaz mail, along with government forms or documents or IDs or GSM cards (as all these require photo ID anyway). All the other "systematic" postal articles & parcels go to your P.O.Box , or the receivers P.O.Box that you specified.(no door to door for accustomed post, though some buildings have postal P.O. Boxes ).
You can also get one at Mailboxes Etc.
If you don't want it to go thru post office you have to use private couriers such as Fedex & DHL who can hand over door to door.
Fedex can get a parcel from Canada to UAE in less than 72 hours and utter on the 4th day. For postal parcels Express is the fastest

Basically, are medicines prohibited to send by post? They are non-remedy and general flu medications.

Answer: not by law , by the cloth of health because some flu medications are not allowed here (do not meet certain criteria for import). Even if it is the same marque as a medicine sold in local market it does not mean it is the same. There are some imitations out there on the int'l deal in which only the health authorities can check for, so be careful where you buy it from. Some others not sold only for issues of marketing and buying mark.
