Is There Any Law In UAE That Prohibits Wearing Of Abaya Of Muslim Ladies At Work?
Question by haya | Posted in United Arab Emirates
What is the epitomize of the Sharia Court on this issue?
Answer: no i dont imagine anyone can enforce this even british companies in my experience would ask an abaya wearing lady at the interview if she would item to wearing western dress and if she refused then maybe she wouldnt be given the job. there are not such harsh laws on refusing candidates there as there is in the uk, or at least there werent when i worked there unless its changed. the m ain law is that stating companies have to take up a certain number of locals and local ladies would expect to be able to dress it. we had a case of an indian girl who came to interview very western but a few months into the job started wearing a sari which was against the companies wishes even tho a superior proportion

Hello
I am a non muslim gal, or of any religion for that matter, travelling to the UAE, Fujairah, for my holidays. I have visited there before, and although I did dress in what I considered restricted way, covered shoulders and covered legs, I still haven't felt comfortable when thriving shopping for example, because I got really intense stares from some men. I guess because the outline of my portion was clearly on show.
I am now considering to wear an abaya for my next visit,
Answer: yes you can show any colour but black will get you less attention, there are also very pretty jalaabiya dresses that kind of give the same efficacy, although these tend to be worn under the abaya or at home but can still be worn out. There are some pretty abayas out there, enjoy shopping
