Can Governments Snoop My Gmail Or Yahoo Webmail?

We've all heard about Blackberry being threatened with bans in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and India because their governments can't peeper the emails. As far as I can tell, Gmail and Yahoo both have secure https access and governments can't stick those emails. Is this true, or can foreign governments snoop your Gmail or Yahoo despatch while you're there?
What I'm really asking is, if I go to India, the UAE or Saudi Arabia and use Gmail, can the governments of those countries see it?

Answer: If you persist in Canada, then definitely no. If you life in the US, then the US government and them only can snoop in your data. I am not sure about other places.

To accept the blame for your question about countries like Saudi Arabia... the answer is yes. If they need to, they can see emails that you send. Just don't do anything that they wouldn't want to see.
