Does anyone recognize where I might be able to learn about potential business grants. My husband has a small landscaping company that needs some new appurtenances. He is also learning disabled? are there grants specifically for people with disabilities. Please help??
His mower needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Snowblower aslo has issues. His dumptruck needs the sides replaced. Coeval sides are shot. I am sure there is more that is just all I can think of at the moment.
Thanks
It is harsh to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations only give grant money for starting a for-profit business.
One possible exception is for companies developing or exporting agricultural goods, including edibles and forest product. Another exception could be the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Tiny Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs http://www.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbaprograms/ sbir/key.html , which fund the research and development of technological innovation that meets unique to government needs.
Your best bet actually will be from the states if they offer grant programs for women (or any other valued interest groups -- minorities, women, disabled, veterans, etc). Or check with non profit organizations, only women organizations if they offer grants. Examples include
Iowa Women's Purpose http://www.iawf.org/
New Mexico Women's Foundation http://www.nmwf.org/guidelines.html
Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CO N_FAQ2.html
"The U.S. Close-fisted Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does provide a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does put up some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that lay down small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, mediator lending institutions, and state and local governments."
Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Autochthonous Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal superintendence to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit endanger.
Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business -- THERE'S NONE.

Are There Any Real Ways To Get Grants For Small Business Start-ups?

I am disquieting to start a small business and I am trying to look into grants for funding. With the state of the economy being what it is, are there still humiliated business grants out there? How can one obtain the information about them without going through the bogus sites on the internet?
There is only one web place run by the Federal government to apply to grants - http://www.grants.gov
Be advised, there are no grants to start a business, personal monetary assistance, pay off your debt, etc. Go to the web site and see for yourself.
How Do I Write A Business Plan To Use To Apply For Small Business Grants?
Oct 09, 2006 by radiomatts@sbcglobal.net | Posted in Small Business
I have one of the Matthew Lesko books, and see some possibiliites for paltry business grants. They all ask for a formal business plan in order to apply. I have everything set up in my head, but don't know the format to indite one.
Keep in be careful of that if your potential business doesn't contribute to the betterment of mankind...grants are hard to come by.
Also, Slash gain is invaluable in that old school retired business people give you advice and direction.
And last but not least, the SBA stinking blows. They promote how they help small business, minorities, women, etc...
but from personal experience, you need to have pile collateral to get SBA backing.
I went to open a salon. I had an immaculate business plan that I developed with Short and the Small Business Development Center at the local level. My credit score was 780. I owned 2 houses with almost $100,000 equity between the two of them. I had over $60,000 in savings, a 401k, iras, stocks, bonds, etc. Net value far exceeded what was "required". I didn't necessitate to use my savings or refinance my houses to open a salon. I wanted to obtain $125,000.
Because I was not buying the building in which I opened my salon, I was turned down by 10 stinking banks - all effective me that if I'd buy the building (yeah right...it's a huge strip mall) that they back me because THEN and only then, would they feel as though I had the correct type of collateral to make them comfortable. Oh - and they would only lend me $250,000 or more toward buying the edifice to establish my salon. WTF?
Long story short, I used my own savings for my buildout, leased my kit and told the SBA to freaking bite me. Been in business 5 years, I paid off all my leases after 2.8 years and myself back the buildout legal tender the following year - and all profit is now mine.
When I first started my research and my business plan, an accountant told me that less than 1% of all businesses that ask for SBA money get it. I didn't believe him then, but after being 86'd by 10 top banks, I believe him now...Phuck the SBA.
Does Anyone Know How I Can Find Out About Small Business Grants?

I'm annoying to get a small business grant and like every site that I've found is a scam. Does anyone know of like tangible places that give grants to people that want to start up there own small business. I want to open like an in welcoming comfortable with kitchen where I can deliver homemade food and stuff.
You stand a greater chance of getting a government-guaranteed loan through the Small Business Delivery http://www.sba.gov/financing than a government grant. Read the SBA Financing page to learn about criteria needed for borrowing
It is sedulously to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations just give grant money for a for-profit business. And yes, grants mean PAPERWORK - lots and lots of it, that is why a cot industry of grant writers was born.
Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Internal Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal direction to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit volunteer.

For special grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a pledge based website ($9.95 per month) but their opening blurb only says that the database is exemplar for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." Entrepreneurs are clearly not one of them, so I take it they also don't have listings of private foundations who give grants to would-be entrepreneurs.

I have a wee business in a small town but have outgrown our current location. I wish to buy a really old erection in town that has more space. The building needs lots of work I have heard that there are grants handy to small business owners or business owners in rural areas. Because I am not a non- profit organization is this plausible? If so what kind of grants should I be looking at?
