Missing Desktop Shortcut N Startup Application Programs. What Happen?

I displease on my computer this morning n find some of my desktop shortcuts missing. I clicked on the startup button n find most of my application program missing too though they r still in the program classify folder.
Can someone pls tell me what happened? How do I fix it?

Answer: Depends on what types of shortcuts they are; if they're the talents that's built into your comp, then you should just go to control panel, programs, and then reinstall it, or search for it (in your resident C drive). If it's the shortcuts that lead to your installed programs, then it seems like they may be gone. You might have to reinstall them.

Is it reachable to add apps such as Firefox to automatically run at startup, such as adding them in the registry startup files list or something?
